  • Fourth Public Beta of OS X 10.11 El Capitan Launched for Public Beta Participants

On Tuesday, Apple has released the fourth public beta of OS X 10.11 El Capitan to Public Beta Participants for testing. The new public beta comes not even a week after the last public beta, and one day after the sixth beta that was seeded to developers just yesterday afternoon.

The update, like the last, improves the operating system's security and stability, and helps improve efficiency and performance.

Those that are on the Public Beta Program update channel will be able to update to the latest operating system update from the Updates tab in the Mac App Store application. Installation will require a restart of the computer, so it's highly recommended that you save your changes to any work you were working on before proceeding with the update to prevent unwanted data loss.

The point of the Public Beta Program is to give eager pre-testers a way to check out the new operating system before it's out for everyone and Apple hopes that in exchange for early access, public beta users will help report bugs in the pre-release before it launches to the general public in the Fall, making the transition experience as smooth as possible for everyone.
