  • Apple Seeds iOS 8.4.1 Beta 2 to Developers for Testing

Apple has seeded a new beta of iOS 8.4.1 to developers Thursday afternoon, which would put the upcoming update at beta 2 with the build number of 12H318. The original beta of iOS 8.4.1 was seeded about two weeks ago, so it's inline with Apple's typical beta release patterns.

Despite being on the second beta already, there are no known major changes in iOS 8.4.1. It's a very incremental release, so it's unknown what's new apart from possible bug fixes, security patches, and stability improvements. It's also unknown if iOS 8.4.1 patches the TaiG jailbreak for iOS 8.1.3-8.4, but considering how long Apple is taking for such a minor bug fix release, we wouldn't be surprised if they've patched the exploits by the time of the official public release.

Developers that are registered with the developer program and are already running iOS 8.4.1 beta 1 will find the updated firmware OTA (over the air) on the test device, or on Apple's developer center on the Web site.

It's worth noting that iOS 9 is also currently in its beta stages and will be launched later this year. iOS 8.4.1 is likely to be the last public update to iOS 8 before iOS 9 launched this Fall with all new features, improvements to the operating system's stability, additional battery life, and other improvements.

Looks I won't be upgrading to 8.4.1 or 9 if it's not jailbreakable.

thank God! I jailbroke my 4s yesterday from 7.06 to 8.4. I'm truly a happy camper. 8.4 is leaps and bounds better than 7.06 and much faster as well.
