  • 'Steve Jobs' Biopic Selected as the Centerpiece of This Year's New York Film Festival

The highly anticipated biopic, “Steve Jobs,” which was scripted by Aaron Sorkin, will be holding the prestigious “Centerpiece” slot at the New York Film Festival on October 3. The film Society of Lincoln Center announced the news this week stating that the film from Universal Pictures defies expectations and takes an unconventional approach to tell the story of a revolutionary figure who made a large impact on the digital world as it stands today.
The New York Film Festival Director and Selection Committee Chair, Kent Jones, had the following to say regarding the matter:

'Steve Jobs' is dramatically concentrated, yet beautifully expansive. It's extremely sharp, it's wildly entertaining, and the actors just soar — you can feel their joy as they bite into the material.
The film was directed by Academy Award winner Danny Boyle, scripted by Aaron Sorkin and has Michael Fassbender as the lead actor who portrays Steve Jobs. Boyle had the following to say regarding the “Centerpiece” selection for his film:

I am honored that our film has been selected as the Centrepiece of this year's festival. And thrilled and terrified too, unlike the subject of our film, who would have taken the whole thing very much in his stride.

Steve Jobs was a thoroughly contradictory and complex character who forged our digital age. He's the kind of brilliant, flawed character that Shakespeare would have relished writing about, and storytellers of all kinds will be fashioning and re-fashioning the mythology of the digital revolution for generations to come. I hope that festivalgoers enjoy our take.
Festivalgoers will get to see the movie slightly before it is released to the general public as the “Steve Jobs” movie hits theaters in the US on October 9th.

Will any of you be watching the movie upon its theatrical release?
