  • Hot Rumor: Apple Taps Auto Industry Talent for Work on Electric Car

On Monday evening, The Wall Street Journal reported that Apple is turning to the automotive world for new talent -- a move that is certainly fueling rumors about Apple's long-term vision for electronic cars or, at the very least, robust car-centered services.

The report in question points to new recent hires, which could suggest Apple is planning to move faster into plans for an Apple-branded electric car.

First up is Doug Betts, former head of global quality at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Betts is now an Apple employee. Joining him is "one of the leading autonomous-vehicle researchers in Europe and is building a team to work on those systems."

No name for the other employee was reported.

Nonetheless, Apple isn't dishing on the purported new hires, but the news has left the tech and automotive industries buzzing once again about what Apple may be gearing up to do in the very near future.
