  • New Report Claims There Will Be No Refresh of Apple's iPad Air Until 2016

Just last week we reported that Apple’s longtime rumored 12.9-inch iPad Pro would launch sometime in November with the device already in production right now. With that rumor, many expected a refresh coming for the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3. However, Economic Daily News via Macotakara has reported that there will be no refreshing of the iPad Air until a later point.

The new report noted that Apple may want the limelight on their upcoming iPad Pro, therefore Foxconn’s focus will be to maximize deployment capacity on the 12.9-inch tablet. Investment advisor at Fubon Hardware, Liaoxian Li, is saying that due to the focus being on the iPad Pro, a new iPad Air may not be refreshed until sometime next year.

We would advise taking Economic Daily’s report with a grain of salt considering their track record for new Apple information is not the greatest and is mostly mixed. But they also noted in the report that the next iPad Mini refresh may be the last one because the company wants to shift their focus on the larger iPads. We’ll just have to wait until more announcements come out regarding the iPad lineup to see how accurate this information is.

I'm glad they're doing this. I hate it when the stuff I buy gets obsolete within a year.

Good. I bet this is due to Apple realizing that people aren't replacing their iPads as frequently as they had hoped. I don't plan to buy a new iPad more frequently than every 3 years.

As services become more-and-more could based, there is no need to keep churning out powerful processors so frequently. All I do is read books, listen to music, stream video, Reddit, play games. There's no need for a powerful processor for any of these.
