  • Apple Pay to Have HSBC Support Within the Next Two Weeks

Apple earlier this week expanded their contactless payment service, Apple Pay, to the UK and surprisingly enough HSBC was not part of that launch. However, it wonít be that way for much longer as the bank recently confirmed that they are in the process of final testing with the service to be available sometime in the next two weeks. The bank noted that they have been working closely with the Cupertino-based company and have just been finalizing the systems before launch. According to the HSBC spokesperson,

We are excited to be one of a small number of Apple Pay launch partners. We have been working closely with Apple and are now properly reviewing and testing our systems before launching in two weeks. We look forward to bringing Apple Pay to our customers by the end of the month.
Weeks ago, the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation was announced as a launching partner of Apple Pay for when it releases in the UK. The only issue was, many users were unable to add their HSBC cards even after release of the service this week. It is possible that the delay was due to technical issues as some users apparently were able to swap the region of the device from the UK to the US.

Currently, Apple Pay can be used at major retailers including Pret, Boots, Waitrose, and Londonís underground transit. Similar to the launch of Apple Pay in the US, many more retailers and companies will most likely add support for the mobile payment system in the upcoming months.

Oh right. When my mortgage comes up next year I’ll bear in mind if HSBC haven’t stepped up.
