  • NASA's Voyage to Pluto Front and Center on iOS

It's a journey nine years in the making. But despite a trek billions of miles across the universe, iOS device and Apple Watch owners have a front row seat for an out-of-this-world experience.

As global headlines reflected today, NASA's spacecraft New Horizons has begun returning images -- the closest and most detailed ever captured -- of Pluto. And while iOS devices didn't exist when the Pluto mission began, today iOS users have an app dedicated to showcasing all this mission has to show the world.

If you're not familiar, "New Horizons: a NASA Voyage to Pluto" is a one-of-a-kind app by Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. "Travel to worlds at the edge of the solar system aboard NASA’s New Horizons, the first mission to Pluto and the distant Kuiper Belt," the app description reads. "This app brings you inside this historic voyage, from the New Horizons spacecraft and its science instruments, to the latest news and pictures, to education programs and activities."

Updated for iOS 8.3, the app has become mission control for those closely following the historic journey to Pluto, a voyage that will continue to send back data and images throughout its close-encounter with Pluto.

If you haven't yet checked it out, the New Horizons app is available for download now on iTunes. To get it, click here.

No sure what the F NASA is doing there, they need to go back to the Moon, install a base there, and claim ownership. Then prepare there for a mission to Mars. These guys are barking at the wrong tree.!

Whoever does this first will claim ownership of the Moon, I think the Chinese could do it first if NASA keeps sending S%^&^ far away where basically life can not be sustained.

No country should claim ownership of the moon. The moon is for Human beings as a whole not for us to claim.

The Chinese have no clue how to do space exploration. We put a rover on Mars that was supposed to last 90 days and has been going over 9 years. The Chinese put one on the moon that was supposed to last 3 months and broke down after 30 days.

Why do you think NASA Almighty won't put one of those sweet rovers on the moon? That could send us back some amazing HD footage of our earth spinning that is real instead of composite photos and video fakery. It's 2015 the era of nearly everything HD, times up nasholes and I'm glad they finally decided Pluto is a planet again instead of a ball of gas...

Sorry if it comes across hostile, but it was meant with all sincerity. Critical thinking;Do you really believe we landed on the moon in a tin can over 40 years ago, never to return again? And yes they banged all of our girlfriends

      NASA Fakes crap!
At least not everyone is blind-

We have ships that are nuclear powered almost 0 gravity when running. They use hydrogen to fuel the thrust engine.
Gas planets are mainly made of Hydrogen-
It's a little looney but I seen a TR-3B. I didn't know much about triangle UFOS but that big ball under it confirmed what I seen.. The little sound it does have sounds like it's focused out the back.

True super advanced beings just flash across timespace. The ones that people believe are visiting us are space explorers.
