  • Over 250,000 Stores to Support Launch of Apple Pay in the U.K Tuesday

Apple has been looking to expand Apple Pay outside of the U.S. for a while now and talk has been going around claiming the company was gearing up to launch the service in the U.K. Now the company’s U.K. Apple Pay site notes that the mobile payment service will officially be available for use in Northern Ireland, England, Wales, and Scotland beginning Tuesday, July 14th. The contactless payment service currently only works with Apple’s iPhone 6/6 Plus and the Apple Watch.

It wasn’t hard for Apple to setup Apple Pay in the U.K. as many reported that contactless payments were already set up there. Currently, companies participating in the U.K. Apple Pay launch include HSBC, American Express, Royal Bank of Scotland, Ulster Bank, First Direct, NatWest, Santander, and Nationwide. As for the retail side of things, shops like Waitrose, Boots, and Marks & Spencer are supporting the payment system.

More than 250,00 locations in the U.K. will have Apple Pay ranging from fast food restaurants to retail shops. To take a look at the full list, click the source link below and see what places will support the launch.

5s won't get wallet as Apple only just added nfc to iPhone 6/6+

Registered my card first thing and works flawlessly on iPhone Shame Apple watch 2 beta 3 doesn't support Applepay yet.
