  • Apple May Benefit from Record Global Tablet Sales

New research published Monday by Forrester indicates that a global tablet boom fueled by the enterprise market is underway.

Although in recent quarterly earnings reports Apple has failed to wow investors and analysts with their iPad sales, no one should be a downer on Apple's future in the tablet business.

"While the consumer market sees vacillation, the percentage of tablets the business is purchasing and managing directly continues to increase steadily," analyst J.P. Gownder is quoted by AI in the report.

As for 2015, Forrester estimates that some 218 million tablet sales are in store, before hitting 250 million in 2018, which will represent a leveling-off of sorts. Impressively, while tablet sales won't likely skyrocket past these estimates, it is worth noting the massive growth of the tablet ownership base on a global scale.

Forrester says that by 2018, nearly 800 million people around the world will own a tablet.
