  • Comcast Bringing Streaming Service to iDevices

In what comes as another clear indication of changing times and technologies, Matt Strauss, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Video Services for Comcast Cable in TV, made a big announcement Monday morning.

Comcast is bringing its streaming TV service to iOS devices, including iPhone, iPod, and iPad users. Although the offering isn't yet universal for all, Comcast is pushing forward with a beta test of a new streaming cable service.

With Stream, Xfinity Internet customers can watch live TV from about a dozen networks - including all the major broadcast nets and HBO - on laptops, tablets and phones in their home. It includes thousands of on demand movies and shows to watch home or away and even comes with access to TV Everywhere and a cloud DVR so you can record all your favorites and watch them later.
We're told that Stream is coming for Xfinity Internet customers for a total cost of $15 per month. Initial launch Market? Boston. And it's coming before the end of summer.

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

I will consider it if package is streaming-only and not an add-on for home service.

Cable is dying by the hour. These companies are trying to figure out the next step. They better hurry up before Apple and Roku do the same thing :]

From what i heard it's going to be separate, but I also heard it's an add on for internet service (which isn't a bad thing) but if it wasn't an add on, they could get out of market people to sign up which would be HUGE!

Tivo Roameo, you can stream things from Tivo to your "unjailbroken" device.
Unfortunately unless someone in jailbreaking community comes up with updated app to "trick" system check you are out of luck.
