  • MLB Takes a Swing at Apple Pay with MasterCard Ahead of All-Star Game

On Friday, MasterCard announced that they are giving fans using Apple Pay a great new way to pay at the 2015 MLB All-Star Game (which is being presented by T-Mobile in Cincinnati).

We're told that folks who attend the 2015 MLB All-Star Week festivities can now use Apple Pay on-site for food and merchandise purchases. But there's more. In addition, those who use Apple Pay could get a "Priceless Surprise."

In short, it's a marketing effort that is getting some added attention. So what does it all mean exactly? Here's what MasterCard has to say:

MasterCard cardholders who use Apple Pay at contactless merchandise and concession acceptance locations at the T-Mobile All-Star FanFest taking place July 10th through July 14th or in-stadium at Great American Ball Park from July 12th through July 14th could get a little something extra from All-Star branded premiums, autographed memorabilia to prepaid cards and more.
Beyond the All-Star Games, today's announcement reiterates that baseball fans can also use Apple Pay when purchasing single-game regular season tickets through MLB.com. Ballpark, which is the official ballpark app of Major League Baseball.
