  • New iPod Colors Reportedly Leaked in Yesterday's iTunes 12.2 Release

It has been a while since we've seen any major refresh of the iPod lineup from Apple. It seems like all efforts have been heavily raining down on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac as of late. In fact, it has almost felt like Apple's declining iPod sales have driven them to almost discontinue to the iPod in favor of the alternative devices Apple offers.

On the other hand, a new report from belgium-iphone Wednesday morning reveals that Apple's latest iTunes 12.2 release for OS X Yosemite, which includes Apple Music and Beats 1 built right into it, includes some high resolution images of the iPod touch, iPod nano, and and iPod Shuffle in brand-new colors that Apple does not yet offer.

Although similar colors are offered by Apple, these new shades of blue, pink, and gold offer significant diversity from current colors.

The new colors suggest that Apple is planning a color refresh for these devices, although it's not yet known if Apple will bump of the hardware specs on these devices, which would be a good move on Apple's part considering that the iPod touch is running an iPhone 4s CPU (A5 chip), which is ages behind the current chip technology.

Apple's iOS 9 release coming this Fall will continue to support the iPhone 4s, iPad 2, and iPod touch 5g's A5 chip, so anything is possible. Apple has been known to simply tweak the iPod touch slightly instead of upgrading the hardware components in the past.
