  • And... Just Like That, iOS 8.4 Public Release is Already Jailbroken

iOS 8.4, which was just released today to the public from Cupertino-based Apple, has already been jailbroken. Yes, you heard that right.

The iOS 8.1.3-8.3 jailbreak tool that TaiG released last week has not yet been updated to support iOS 8.4, but it likely will be due to the fact that Apple doesn't appear to have closed the exploits with the new update.

In the mean time, PP, a team that brought us a Mac OS X jailbreak in the past for earlier version of iOS 8, has just released an updated Windows jailbreak (also in Chinese) tool that supports iOS 8.4.

Now before you go right in and delve into the PP jailbreak, you should keep in mind that TaiG has accused PP of stealing their code for the original iOS 8.1.3-8.3 jailbreak:

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">After the release of iOS8.4, TaiGís exploit isnít blocked. BUT PP stole TaiGís exploit for a jailbreak. The act should be strongly condemned</p>&mdash; TaiG_Jailbreak (@taig_jailbreak) <a href="https://twitter.com/taig_jailbreak/status/615939601463508993">June 30, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

With that being said, you might want to think twice before using this jailbreak; rather, wait for TaiG to release their updated jailbreak tool instead. We can, however, confirm that the jailbreak works. Some jailbreak packages will just need to be updated for iOS 8.4 support, which could take some time.

All of this means you're probably safe to update to iOS 8.4, but if you're happy at iOS 8.3, you can always stay put. Like stated earlier, we recommend that you wait for TaiG to update their jailbreak tool, and that's because we don't condone code theft.

On the other hand, we felt it was worth sharing with you that Apple's just-released firmware update is most certainly jailbreakable.

Update: TaiG says an updated jailbreak tool will be released within the hour. Just wait for TaiG.

Better stick to IOS 8.3 until all tweaks are compatible with 8.4-Jb

Now the true question is, is it worth updating to 8.4 from 8.3? I updated last week from 8.1.1 to 8.3. I did a fresh install and all that. I really don't feel like doing that all over again, but if it's worth updating then I'll spend the 2 hours to get everything setup and going once again.

Only if Apple Music and more stable Wi-Fi are worth it to you.

Me personally I'd stay on iOS 8.3. Most tweaks and themes are already updated to that firmware so I'd rock with that.

Great news!! Fairly predictable but fantastic all the same!! I would imagine most of what's been updated to be compatible on 8.3 will be compatible on 8.4?

Don't expect one from TaiG, I don't think they ever released a Mac version in the past. PP, I don't know if they'll release a Mac version, but it WOULD be nice.

I wonder how these two jailbreaks compare PP vs TaiG.

Is one more stable/more successful than the other....?

PP just stole the code from TaiG. It's really no different apart from a new UI.

well even if they stole the code, you don't know if they made any changes/improvements.
