  • iOS 8.4 Launching Tuesday At 8 AM PDT With Apple Music & Beats 1

iOS 8.4 will be launching Tuesday morning this week at 8 AM PDT time, as revealed by Ian Rogers, Beats former CEO in a blog post.

The iOS release will coincide with Apple Music, which ships in the redesigned Music application that is pre-installed on the iOS 8.4 firmware, as well as Beats 1, which is the new radio station feature that Apple announced at WWDC 2015 that would be available with iOS 8.4.

Although iOS 8.4 will be released at 8 AM PDT time on Tuesday, Apple 1 will not stream until 9 AM PDT time on Tuesday, which gives users some time to get acquainted with the new features of iOS 8.4 before using the Beats 1 radio streaming feature.

Apple Music is a subscription-based music streaming service similar to Spotify that will cost users $9.99 per month, although it will offer a 3-day free trial for users so they can see what it's like before paying.

It's unknown if iOS 8.4 will patch the TaiG 2.1.3 jailbreak, so those happily jailbroken may want to consider holding off before upgrading, as TaiG will surely check the compatibility once it is released. At the moment, TaiG can only jailbreak iOS 8.1.3-8.3.

Glad I'm jailbroken to 8.3 before it will be closed for updating.

Because Apple already closed the exploit that was used to JB 8.3, its doesn't work on 8.4, so why not.

8.4 is build 12H141 correct? If only I had a spare phone, need to keep my jailbreak...

btw is the ModMyi app gone from the App Store? Can't find it anymore -- had to sync it over from iTunes after my DFU restore ...

Where did you hear that? As far as I know, there have been no confirmed reports of iOS 8.4 closing TaiG.

We'll find out for sure on Tuesday or Wednesday after iOS 8.4 has been released to the public.

I had the same problem and even after I downloaded it again from my purchase section on iTunes it didn't work. I had to re-jailbrake to get it to work. ModMyI is the most used app on my phone, I would be lost without it.

My guess is it will still work, carriers were asked to complete test approval it a week ago which was before the JB was released.

I'm inclined to believe they released it now because Apple doesn't have the time to patch the exploits used in time for the 8.4 launch.

yeah. I'm willing to go on record as saying the jailbreak will definitely not be patched in 8.4. It'll work in 8.4 as well. Apple's had no time to close the exploit.

And as others have said that's exactly why Taig released the jailbreak just a couple days ago.

To be on the super safe side… I am going to upgrade to 8.3 tonight. Does anybody know if there's a Mac tool out yet?

Not yet that I know of. Outside of using VM.

Wow that's a really fast turnaround. That means I need to move up to 8.3 like now, to ensure I don't miss the window. I hate to move up when so many things need updating still.

No Mac tool. TaiG has no history with Mac OS X like Pangu did, so there's a pretty big chance there will never be a Mac tool. Virtual machine is your best bet.

Yeah.. I hate it too.. But moving to 8.3 before Tues is pretty important.. Just to make sure you don't lose the window.. I'm not going to reload everything back on until after Tuesday. Because I may just go to 8.4 at that point if the jailbreak still works.

On a virtual machine do we still need to be at iTunes 12.0 .1?

Good idea, I'll just move up and sit for a couple days.

I found the ModMyi app by changing my App Store country after not being able to find it a few months back, and then changed my country back after I installed it.. I use the app many times a day for the past 3 years, it is 1 of only 2 social/ media/news sites I use (CNET being the other.)
