  • Apple's Lisa Jackson Promoted, Now Responsible for All of Apple's Policy Initiatives

Apple recently announced that Lisa Jackson will be taking on additional duties beyond the company related environmental issues in the near future. As part of her newly expanded role, Jackson will be responsible for all policy initiatives including worldwide government affairs, education, accessibility and social concerns.

As seen in Lisa Jackson’s biography webpage, she is now the vice president of environment, policy and social initiatives. The promotion was recently confirmed by the folks over at The Washington Post as well. Furthermore, Apple CEO, Tim Cook, sent out a memo to its employees explaining the broader area of responsibility that Jackson will be managing. The memo reads the following:

Lisa will apply her passion and her unique skill set to integrate teams across Apple and make our impact even greater. As part of her new role, Lisa will also take over management of our worldwide Government Affairs function.
Jackson’s recent duties entail oversight of several important education initiatives that have been a large part of Apple’s efforts. According to Cook, the Cupertino California company is already working with roughly 114 schools through its ConnectED program.

For those of you who didn’t know, Apple ended up hiring Jackson in 2013 to help mitigate any impact that company operations might have on the environment. Since then, she has proven to be effective when it comes to balancing out Apple’s increasing appetite for raw materials, energy and clean waste disposal associated with device manufacturing as well as data services. As a result, the Cupertino California company has been able to maintain a relatively small carbon footprint.
