  • GMC and Buick Cars to Adopt CarPlay in 2016 Models

Just yesterday we reported that Chevy’s first cars (the 650-HP Corvette Z06) to have Apple’s CarPlay feature is already being shipped out to dealerships and consumers. The only other confirmed automaker as of yesterday to incorporate the new infotainment was Ferrari. Now, a new announcement from General Motors on Tuesday is saying that they will be bringing Apple’s infotainment system and Android Auto (from the IntelliLink system) to Buick and GMC vehicles as early as next year.

As of right now GM plans on incorporating CarPlay in the 2016 GM Canyon, Sierra, and Yukon meanwhile Buick will be bringing it to the 2016 Regal and LaCrosse. They also have plans on adding Android Auto in certain vehicles later in the year. GM luxury car brand Cadillac will also be supporting CarPlay into ‘majority’ of their 2016 models as well.

Like we’ve mentioned before, we believe this is just the beginning of CarPlay and we think more and more automakers will be supporting this feature in upcoming vehicles in the new few years.
