  • Apple's Next Generation iPhone to Feature 7000 Series Aluminum and Modified Colors?

As we are nearing the end of June, many are starting to wonder what the next generation Apple iPhone will look like and what new features will be added. Japanese blog Mac Otakara has recently obtained a note that was issued to investors by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, noting what he thinks will be featured in the next iPhone. We do want to point out though, that although Kuo has a pretty good track record when it comes to upcoming product information, we would still take everything with a grain of salt as it is still only just a rumor for now.

The first thing Kuo pointed out was that the next iPhone, dubbed iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, would adopt a 7000 Series aluminum that is currently used in the company’s wearable device. Kuo noted as well that on the design side of things, everything will look practically the same but with some slight changes in dimensions. Apparently according to Kuo, the iPhone 6s/6s Plus might be taller and wider by approximately 0.15mm due to the aluminum aspect with an added 0.2mm in thickness from Force Touch. The changes in measurements are pretty minimal if you ask us, so the average consumer may not even notice the difference.

Kuo also noted that a new Rose Gold color option would be made available for the next generation iPhone, similar to that of the rose gold Apple Watch Edition. The current gold color option will apparently be more yellow to match that of the Apple Watch Edition as well and the space gray option will be more black, to match the space black wearable device. Again, we’re not sure how true these predictions are, but take in what you think is true and disregard the rest.

What are your thoughts on the next generation iPhone? Will you be upgrading or purchasing the device? Share with us in the comments below.

That would be a pretty big "screw you" to aftermarket manufactures of cases and so forth if the dimensions change. But hey, if Apple thinks it's needed, they'll sure do it.

Why not offer a gold version with a black front, instead of the white?

Yes I will be upgrading... I've been on the S upgrade cycle since the 4S... P.S. It seems the S in 4S was capitalized, but the s in 5s is lower case? Is that true, and if so, what's the deal?

ROFL! But if this means they are using the same crappy easily-scuffed metal like the watch uses, iPhones are fooked.

I love the look of the metal, but making it less slippery in the hand would be a great addition. For the first time I had to get a case after dropping the phone twice on the first day alone; luckily only on carpet.

Matters not, everyone hides the phone with a bulky case fearing a scratch or broken screen.

No, it's simply a part of their market strategy - they change something on the phone every year so that they can sell you a new case every time you buy a new phone. This is why they change the placement of the buttons between the prime and S versions of the phone.

Really? I feel pretty sure they don’t change button placement in S models. When I got my 5s case virtually all of the cases I saw said, “iPhone 5 or 5s compatible.”
