  • Apple's News Venture Prompts Need for New Hires

Apple is looking for a few good editors. That's the takeaway from a new job listing by the company.

The Cupertino, California-based tech giant is on the hunt for experienced former journalists and editors to play a key role in the curation of content for the company's recently announced News platform.

Apple wants people with five-plus years of journalism experience, for instance, who have “great instincts for breaking news” but are “equally able to recognize original, compelling stories unlikely to be identified by algorithms.”
The listing all but confirms that Apple isn't going to rely solely on artificial intelligence to empower the News platform to give readers a tailored reading experience. Indeed, humans are still part of the show in this regard.

Apple says the end-goal of its editors is to make certain that “enterprise journalism is rewarded with high visibility.”
