  • Apple Rumored to Release a 4-Inch iPhone 7 Dubbed the iPhone 7c

Apple supplier AU Optronics recently secured a deal to produce screens for a future 4-inch iPhone which is reportedly in the works and set to ship in 2016. According to Economic Daily News, Apple is reportedly working on two devices referred to as the “iPhone 7” and the “iPhone 7c” set to release next year. Most reports on the other hand are suggesting that Apple’s next flagship phones (the ones releasing later this year) will be called the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus with a third device, possibly the 6c, representing a more affordable entry point.

At the moment, Apple sells a total of four iPhone models though it seems to push people towards the 6 and 6 plus. That being said, shoppers can still buy a 5s or even a 5c, the latter being based on the internals of a 2012 iPhone 5.

A first-quarter iPhone launch would be unlikely for Apple which typically prefers to have a release date in the summer or fall. Although rumors from the Far East peg future hardware plans, their claims about the timing of product launches often don’t stand up to par. That being said, KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, who does have a good record when it comes to predicting things, mentioned that Apple is considering an upgraded 4-inch handset with Apple Pay for next year, not this fall.

The smartphone industry has trended towards larger sized phones, in this case ones that approach 5-inches or exceed them. Ultimately Apple ended up giving in to the demand and produced a 4.70inch iPhone 6 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus. That being said, a 4-inch device may still have some appeal for multiple reasons: it will likely come cheaper and will likely serve as a compact option for some.

We’ll have to wait and see what ends up happening.

Everytime I turn around one rumour is saying 6c but then the next thing I know another is saying no 6c. Wonder what will actually happen.

LMAO!!! I'm going to laugh if someone IDIOT buy's a 4 inch 7(c), waste their Next Plan for this...or If it's the 6(C), Because we all know that they ALWAYS come out with a Mid Model before Dropping the Bomb on the REAL Model. Again a Waste of Someone's Next Plan, my Plan doesn't even end until Sept-Oct...so I'm safe until then.

I'm going to have to call BS on this rumor. Apple isn't going to release a full lineup (Fall 2015) that does NOT include a 4" model, then go ahead and produce a 4" model for 2016. Or is this rumor in addition to a 4" model 6S for this fall? I clearly remember the same rumors after a 4" iPhone 6, and those didn't pan out. Lastly, why does this article not clearly state this is a rumor? None of Apple's suppliers affirm contracts, with specifics about screen size no less, at any point before launch. Certainly not a year and a half premature.

The rumor sites have been spot on the money the past three years with the current next model being postulate about. They nailed the ram size change between 4 and 5.. They nailed screen size changes in their exact dimensions before 6/6+ came out … They nailed pretty much every feature before release. So the rumor sites do a great job generally for the upcoming newest phone. But I agree that two years out it's nothing but wild guesses/wishes.

"Apple supplier AU Optronics recently secured a deal.... which is reportedly...is reportedly...Most reports..."

Translation: Someone bought AU Optronic stock and started a rumor so it would go up.

A 4" phone from apple (rumor) is like saying Apple is coming out with a flip phone lol. There will be no 4" phone. The C series that apple put out was a Joke--you wont see a C series either!!!

I work in IT. I am the "phone guy" and I have seen more issues with the 5C than any other iPhone rendition. Whether its the charging port, OS malfunction, sound quality etc. I would take a 4S before a 5C. Better build and more reliable IMHO. Having a 4" option is not a bad idea. Just make it out of the same materials you use to make the 6 and 6+. That is all for now :]

The article rumored that there would be a 7C "on par" technologically with the iPhone 7 and 7+. They 'd have to make it cheaper somehow to get a different price point. But I don't think they will make the 5C "quality" mistake again. At least I hope not. I personally could never go back to a 4 inch phone now. But I sure thought I could when I first put this iPhone 6 in my hand. Took a very long time to get used to holding this thing and working with it. Now I pick upmy 5S and I just can't even use it even for a day.

This 6plus is perfect size for me, even the 6 looks small to me now... Definitely no interest in a 4inch screen again... I can see how it would be wise to keep that size in the future lineups though, I do see people who just use their iPhones as a phone mainly, they don't care about screen size for viewing you tube videos and what not, they just want to take and place calls and texts and easily put their phone in a small pocket...

I really don't see a reason why would Apple give up a profit of some, hmmmmm.....say 10.000.000 sold new 4" beauties

Maybe I'm in the minority but I have a 5s & absolutely no desire to go bigger. If they don't make a 4" ever again I guess I'll do my beys to keep this phone for another few decades, at which point I'll be old enough to only need a jitterbug!
