  • Apple's Smartphone Market Share Climbs Again

comScore is out with new numbers that paint a healthy picture for iPhone growth in the domestic smartphone market.

According to the data released Friday, Apple has been on a remarkable run so far this year. As of the end of April 2015, Apple was the top smartphone manufacturer with 43.1 percent OEM market share (that's up 1.8% since the end of January).

Google's Android, of course, is still hanging tough. Android led as the #1 smartphone platform with 52.2 percent platform market share (down from 53.2 in January). Apple's share sits at 43.1%, which is an improvement over January's 41.3%.

Just how big is the domestic smartphone market these days? 188.6 million people in the U.S. owned smartphones (76.9 percent mobile market penetration) during the three months ending in April.

Did the April quarter include the release of the S6? I think it did. If so thatís a really impressive feat for Apple. Usually the market share swings like a pendulum between them and Samsung between releases.
