  • 6Wunderkinder Promises New Features, Multi-Platform Support & More Despite Acquisition

With the recent buyout from Microsoft, the Wunderlist developer, 6Wunderkinder, recently promised to continue adding new features, maintain multi-platform support and as originally mentioned, the Wunderlist team will remain in Berlin. The company’s founder and CEO, Christian Reber, added that he will continue to be in charge of both the 6Wunderkinder team and the product strategy going forward.

As of right now, the Microsoft ownership transition will be taking place over the next few months. In the meantime, Wunderlist will continue to gain new features as well as grow a number of partner integrations. Development is also said to continue across all present platforms, which consist of iOS, Mac, Apple Watch, Android, Windows and last but not least, the Web.

No information regarding the value of the Microsoft deal was revealed but what we do know is that the number was somewhere between $100 million and $200 million.

After the acquisition, Microsoft separately confirmed that there are no price changes planned for Wunderlist Pro or Wunderlist for Business. The company even went as far as reassuring that a “wide range of third-party apps and integrated services” will still be supported. This suggests that even if Wunderlist merges with the Microsoft apps and services, it won’t become exclusive, which seems to align with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s stance on offering apps on an open platform.
