  • Apple Raises Trade-In Values for Older iPhones This Month

Apple Store sources are reporting that the company will be giving consumers a small increase in trade-in values for some of their iPhones. iPhones that will qualify for the boost in value include the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPhone 5S. Unfortunately, the Cupertino-company’s flagship iPhone 6/6 Plus won’t qualify for the increased offering. Apple’s Reuse and Recycle program will allow consumers to bring in old iPhones and get a gift card credit for a newer iPhone device.

Since the company won’t be releasing a new iPhone in the next month or two, the additional offering may be because they are looking to boost some iPhone sales. If you have an older device just sitting around at home, take a look below at how much you can get just for turning it in:

    iPhone 4s: originally $35 credit, now $50

    iPhone 5: originally $85 credit, now $100

    iPhone 5s: originally $175 credit, now $200

This boost is only available currently in the U.S. and for iPhone to iPhone devices. Those with an Android device can participate in a different program Apple recently launched. Do note however, Apple staff will decide how much you get depending on the condition of your phone.

Have you tried turning in an older iPhone? How much did you get for it? Share with us in the comments below.

Imagine how many old phones are just lying around, unused. That's a ton of processing power if they found a way to link them together. They sip power so electricity would be cheap and they'd be easy to cool. Just a thought.
