  • Jay Blahnik Hosting Special Events at Several Asia-Pacific Apple Retail Stores


    According to recent reports, Jay Blahnik, Appleís director of fitness is currently touring Apple Stores in Australia, China and Japan to host a series of talks. His first stop was the Sydney Apple Store on Saturday where he spoke with personal trainer Michelle Bridges. On Monday, he arrived at the Omotesando Apple Store in Tokyo for a session with the technology journalist, Nobi Hayashi.

    The most high-profile event is one coming up on June 3 where Blahnik will be sitting with actor Donnie Yen at the China Central Mall Apple Store in Beijing. (For those of you who donít know who Donnie Yen is, heís famous for starring in action movies such as Ip Man, Hero and Iron Monkey.

    Overall, the theme of the events that Blahnik is attending is a combination of fitness and technology. Indirectly, they are a way of promoting the Apple Watch, which has motion and heart rate sensors used to track exercise and encourage physical activity.

    Jay Blahnik was originally hired by the Cupertino California company in 2013 with the Apple Watch in mind. Prior to his work at Apple, he was involved in consulting with Nike, specifically brought in for projects like the FuelBand and Nike+ Running. Now at Apple, he has access to the special fitness lab which was created to test the Watch under several practical conditions such as running, yoga and more all while under varying climates.
