  • Apple CEO Tim Cook Says Apple Watch Will be Available in Stores Starting June

New reports are claiming that Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed with employees at Apple headquarters during his recent trip to China that the company is aiming to have the Apple Watch in stores starting June, in multiple countries around the world. China will in fact, be one of those countries this time as well. According to 9to5Mac, employees were told that the launch of the device “could not be going better.” Rumors first circulated the web about Apple retail stores having the wearable device in stock at the end of May from the company’s retail chief Angela Ahrendts. The memo back in April noted that the smartwatch would be exclusive online only until May.

When the Apple Watch first launched, the company made it clear that it would only be available online. Ahrendts told all employees that they were looking to change the typical Apple launch way, where customers would wait online in front of retail stores for the desired device. This was very unusual for the Cupertino-based company, as most of their big launches including the iPhones and iPads involved consumers waiting in line for a long time to get their hands on the new devices. However, Ahrendts did mention that making the Apple Watch exclusive online makes it a better experience for customers.

Apple has been working hard to catch up on production with the Apple Watches, as they have been trying to ship out the wearable device earlier than what customers get told. We’re not sure how caught up they will be with supplying the devices when June rolls around, but if Cook can confirm them to be in stores starting June we’ll have to trust him. However, we’re sure some models will definitely be in stock when the time comes as shipping estimates for the Apple Watch Sport has been improving slowly. Take a look at an excerpt taken from 9to5Mac regarding the Apple Watch:

Cook began by telling the employees that “the Watch could not be going better, we’re working really hard on making more.” Cook joked that Apple wishes it had more operations staff and engineers to make the launch go even smoother, according to the sources. Notably, Cook promised that Apple Stores will begin carrying Apple Watch stock “by June.” This indicates that comments from Angela Ahrendts in April are still on track. For the first time, Cook also confirmed that the upcoming June in-store launch will include the company’s stores in China.
