  • Apple Launches Refreshed 15-inch MacBook Pro With Retina Display w/ Force Touch

Along with this morning's refresh of the new $1,999 lower-end 5k retina display iMac & new price baseline for the higher-tier model, Apple also announced on Tuesday a refreshed lineup of its 15-inch MacBook Pro with retina display. The results are inline with our prediction on Monday.

The refresh adds the new Force Touch gesture to the multi-touch track pad on the 15-inch MacBook Pro that comes with Apple's new MacBook and the 13-inch MacBook Pro since the debut of the feature at a recent Apple keynote. The feature allows the user to use force as an input gesture on the track pad, as it can detect forceful motion as well as touches using the new built-in sensors; it also offers haptic feedback to the user when used.

Moreover, Apple has refreshed refreshed the CPU in the new 15-inch MacBook Pro with retina display with a new Intel Broadwell processor without any speed bumps. On the other hand, the use of the new Broadwell processor increases the power efficiency of the 15-inch MacBook Pro and adds an additional hour of battery life; it can now last for 9 hours instead of 8 while performing everyday web browsing and computer usage (gaming and other intense functions will offer varied battery life).

Apple's new refreshed 15-inch MacBook Pro with retina display with CPU refresh, faster flash storage, and Force Touch technology is available to ship within 1 business day online via Apple's Web site and starts at $1,999.

R9 M370X... really Apple? This is extremely disappointing
Have been waiting for the 15 inch refresh since more than a year now... was expecting a MBP with either a 970M or a 980M GPU (3GB/4GB).
I guess Apple forgot what happened to their sales numbers when they switched to ATI from nVidia cards... not to mention the cards failing in their 2011 models. I guess it's time for a new class action lawsuit in 2016-2017 when these start failing.

Oh well, time to look for some other portable workstation options *sigh*
