  • Oculus Rift VR Headset Development for Mac on Hold

Bad news for Mac users awaiting the eagerly anticipated Oculus Rift VR headset -- technology procured by Facebook last year for $2 billion.

Although development on the futuristic wearable technology is pushing forward, all plans for Mac are now on hold. The news came today in an update on the official Oculus VR blog.

The reason? Looks like a more comprehensive focus on Windows is in order. That's the candid admission today from Atman Binstock. If you're not familiar, Binstock serves as Chief Architect at Oculus and technical director of the Rift.

"Our development for OS X and Linux has been paused in order to focus on delivering a high quality consumer-level VR experience at launch across hardware, software, and content on Windows," he writes in today's post. "We want to get back to development for OS X and Linux but we donít have a timeline."
