  • Here's Why You Should Wait Before Buying Third-party Apple Watch Wrist Bands

Excitement about the surfacing of third-party wrist bands for the Apple Watch is nothing short of widespread, but Apple only recently released guidelines for wrist strap manufacturers to adhere to, as a direct result, higher-quality third-party wrist bands made to be a direct swap have yet to surface, unless of course you're using an Apple-branded wrist strap right out of the box.

If you were thinking about ordering a third-party Apple Watch wrist strap, we think it's only fair that we offer some advice:

    Wait.

Most third-party Apple Watch bands that are out on the market already have not been thoroughly-tested and are just money-grabbers. Those cheap $10 bands you might find online claiming to be "real leather" and "high quality" wrist bands are nothing short of cheap knockoffs of the real thing.

Above, you can see a picture Tweeted by well-known jailbreaker @comex showing just how easily his third-party Apple Watch wrist band became disconnected as he was using it.

Unless you want your Apple Watch tumbling to the ground due to low-quality straps snapping, we would recommend waiting until reputable companies start coming out with third-party wrist bands that follow Apple's strict guidelines for durability and longevity.

Companies like Incipio, Speck, and Lunatik are already pioneering accessories to compliment the Apple Watch, including wrist bands and even cases, and many more are likely to follow since it's sure to be a profitable venture. But you'll also notice that all of these reputable companies are going to take the time to ensure that their wrist bands are MFi certified.

The certification process means that the bands are able to withstand some torture tests to prove their durability and resistance to everyday life, unlike these cheap Ebay specials.

Well the Monowear steel band I purchased from Amazon looks and works great. Not to mention I'm using it with an aluminum watch sport and it still looks good.

You should be able to use the mobile app, or use a URL service like TinyPic to display pictures.

There was a thread about this a little bit ago. Broomhead he was looking into it so you could ask her if you want. I have the same issue, so I just upload to imgur and post the URL.
