  • Apple Debunks Delay Rumors Over HomeKit

Apple set the record straight on Thursday, following a string of recent reports noting that Apple may be compelled to delay the official HomeKit launch until later in 2015 as a result of major software component issues.

But there's no truth to those assertions. That's according to the Cupertino-based tech giant. The company maintains that the first wave of HomeKit-enabled smart-home devices will launch as early as next month -- not this fall as some reports had previously suggested.

Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller wasted no time clearing this matter up. She headed straight for the Wall Street Journal to correct what was being reported.

“HomeKit [hardware certification] has been available for just a few months and we already have dozens of partners who have committed to bringing HomeKit accessories to market and we’re looking forward to the first ones coming next month,” said Muller.

As the WSJ points out, Apple never went on record to promise a specific launch window.

But after weeks of hype about May and June, any chatter that puts a launch out further into the summer apparently warrants media coverage claiming that HomeKit-enabled devices won't be out as soon as expected.
