  • Apple Preparing to Offer 'Pick-up in Store' Option for Apple Watch Online Orders

Apple has updated its online store and mobile application on Wednesday with a new 'in-store pickup' option as they prepare to allow customers to have their orders kept at an Apple Store so they can be picked up by the buyer instead of mailed to their door.

Currently, the option is grayed out/not accessible, but the addition of the feature points to the reality that Apple is preparing to allow in-store pick-ups for the first time since its initial availability. Due to a manufacturing issue with Apple's Taptic Engine that led to all kinds of supply shortages and longer-than-normal shipping estimates due to the high demand for the product Apple is unable to offer in-store pick-up at this time, as they're busy shipping existing orders.

Shipping estimates for new orders of Apple's wearable iPhone companion accessory remain far out into the month of July, which means there's still a pretty good wait before many orders will ship. Fortunately, many who pre-ordered the device on April 10th have already received their Apple Watch, or their order is currently being processed or is en-route.

Just ordered mine and the option to pick up was there. The only downside was that every location from my state and surrounding states, was that the option to pick up was not available. Does that mean that they don't have the specific watch that i ordered? Or does it meant that the option is not ready as of yet? I was surprised to see the option so quickly.

The feature is still just rolling out, so I would think that maybe the Apple Stores around you haven't yet updated their systems to accept pick-up for the Apple Watch and you just have to wait for that.

Ahh ok ok. It's an offering that is coming very soon. I wondering they would allow me to pickup my order once they do? Guess time will tell..

They obviously haven't been trained on the new feature yet because it's still rolling out and is not yet available to everyone.

It's still in developmental stages on Apple's Web site and is grayed out/cannot be selected. It's just appearing as an option on Apple's Web site and in the mobile application for the first time:

As you can see, it's "currently unavailable" because Apple still has other demand to meet before they can allow in-store pickup. I predict it will be available in June/July after most of the population that ordered gets their orders.
