  • Apple's Angela Ahrendts was the Highest Paid Female Executive in America

Although she has only been an Apple employee for roughly one year, Angela Ahrendts earned nearly $83 million last year. Her income makes her the highest paid female executive in America, an achievement that was revealed thanks to data compiled by the folks over at Bloomberg.

Joining the company in May of last year with the title, Senior Vice President of Retail and Online Stores, Ahrendts’ compensation from Apple was so high that she ended up out-earning the highest paid female CEO in America which was held by Yahoo CEO, Marissa Mayer, whose income was $59.1 million. When it came to US female executives, Mayer came in third behind Ahrendts and Oracle CFO, Safra Catz. Catz was estimated to earn roughly $71.2 million as CFO of Oracle last year and was later named co-CEO of the company.

For those of you who didn’t know or didn’t remember, before joining Apple, Ahrendts was previously the CEO of the luxury fashion brand, Burberry. She gained an interest to work at Apple after what she previously claimed was an instant personal connection with the Apple CEO, Tim Cook. Since she took over Apple’s retail operations, Ahrendts has been responsible for several behind-the-scenes changes for the company’s already very successful stores. In particular, she oversaw the roll-out of in-store try-ons for the new Apple Watch, a move which allows customers to find the style and bands that are right for them.

It should be noted that her estimated pay is said to include a sign-on bonus as well as a make-whole grant that she received for leaving Burberry. In the SEC filing, Apple disclosed that the bulk of her pay comes from a $70 million stock award. As far as her salary goes, she clocks in just under $412,000, which is an amount that was surpassed by a $500,000 bonus.

Apple seems to be compensating its top talent well to ensure that they have the right team to help push the company to new heights.
