  • Apple Taps New General Contractor for Spaceship Campus Completion

It takes some special talent to finish building a spaceship -- or at least a campus that resembles one.

According to reports out West, Apple has just secured the talents of a new general contractor to wrap up its massive spaceship campus project. Apple, we're told, is purportedly getting a little nervous about completing the project in time for next year.

"Rudolph & Sletten Inc., a veteran Silicon Valley builder, will complete the ring-shaped structure’s interior build-out," BizJournals reports. Previously, DPR Construction Co. and Skanska USA were tasked with the project.

It’s unclear why Rudolph & Sletten is being brought in and exactly what DPR/Skanska’s involvement will be going forward. Two sources said the DPR-Skanska joint venture would still complete the core and shell — or the basic structure — of the circular building.
No formal word from Apple yet on this developing story.
