  • Discover Card Announces Plans to Support Apple Pay This Fall

Apple Pay, the NFC-powered payment service that comes integrated in Apple's iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3, and Apple Watch, will be gaining support for the Discover Card this Fall.

Discover Card, which is known for its great cash back perks and customer support, announced on Monday its plans to join the digital contactless payment method. Many Discover cardholders have been waiting for this opportunity for a long time and the new will be music to many people's ears.

Discover touts "maturity" of the mobile payment platform as one of the main reasons it waited so long to hop aboard:

Discover notes that even when using Apple Pay to pay for items abroad, cardholders will still have access to cash back perks and customer support; these won't be limited to physical swipes of the card.

YES! Also when the app supported TouchID, that was a big YES! too.

They are on top of things when it comes to Apple Software. They even have a beautiful Apple Watch app.

Can't wait for Apple Pay support... Discover is by far my favorite credit card.

      Maturity of the product! LOL

I'm glad Discover got through whatever contractual/legal/negotiations they needed to to make this happen, but Apple Pay hasn't changed since it was enabled last fall. Maybe they mean more retailers/demand, but it's more likely they just had internal legal/contractual things to work through, and not "maturity" of apple pay.
