  • Apple Wins Patent Dispute in China

AFP is reporting a victory for Apple in China Friday.

Despite being overshadowed by news of Apple Watch's market debut today, Apple is still making headlines for matters unrelated to the wearable's launch.

According to local reports out of China, Apple was victorious in its appeal in China over "patent rights to voice recognition software such as the iPhone's 'Siri." In short, the report explains that the presiding court has effectively overruled an earlier decision that was not favorable to Apple.

The legal battle begun in 2012 when Shanghai-based Zhizhen Network Technology pursued Apple for allegedly infringing its Chinese patent with Siri, its "intelligent personal assistant."
"The move means Apple's Siri voice recognition system did not infringe the protected rights of other patents and Apple fans can continue enjoying the conveniences brought by the technology," the court said in a statement obtained by AFP.
