  • comScore: Apple Continues to be the Top US Smartphone Manufacturer

    The research firm, comScore, recently released their latest figures and it isnít a surprise to see that Apple continued to remain the top smartphone manufacturer in the US for the month of February. The company did experience a small drop from 41.8% to 41.7% but still managed to beat out Samsung (28.6%), LG (8.3%), Motorola (5.1%) and HTC (3.7%).

    When it came to the smartphone platform marketshare, the iOS platform managed to hold 41.7% of the market while Androidís market share sat at 52.8% combined. This number for Android was up from 52.6% in the previous quarter. Both the Android and iOS platform continued to hold the lionís share of the market as Windows came in at 3.5%, BlackBerry came in at 1.8% and the Symbian platform came in at 0.1%.

    Furthermore, the results shown that 186.3 million people in the United States now own smartphones. Although still a positive growth of 2 million people from just this past January, the number appears to be slowing down compared to previous months. That being said, the number still continues to grow overtime as expected.

    When it comes to the most popular apps for the month of February, Facebook continues to have the largest reach being available on 71.2% of smartphones in the US. Following Facebook was YouTube at 56.4%, Google Play at 51.4%, Facebook Messenger at 51.2% and Google Maps at 44.15.
