  • Angela Ahrendts Wants Customers to Purchase Apple Watch and 12" MacBook Online

It has been noted by Business Insider that Apple Retail Chief Angela Ahrendts is asking retail store employees to get customers in trying to purchase the Apple Watch and 12” MacBook Air online when it launches. According to a leaked internal memo, Ahrendts is stating that days of long lines and waiting times are over and that Apple Online Stores have more availability on these products. Ahrendts also noted that purchasing Apple products online or from the Apple Store app is much easier. According the Business Insider’s leaked memo,

    Get in line online

The days of waiting in line and crossing fingers for a product are over for our customers. The Apple Store app and our online store make it much easier to purchase Apple Watch and the new MacBook. Customers will know exactly when and where their product arrives.

This is a significant change in mindset, and we need your help to make it happen. Tell your customers we have more availability online, and show them how easy it is to order. You'll make their day.
This is very different from how the Cupertino-based company typically handles product launches, as it is usually hyped up with consumers waiting for hours outside Apple Retail Stores. The stores will most likely have limited smartwatch availability and UK Apple Stores won’t even offer in-store pickup for the products. Will you be preordering the device online on April 10th? Share with us your thoughts.

That's not great customer service, go to an Apple store, look at the watch then helped to order it online, go home, wait in from 6AM till 9PM only to find that the delivery company left a card saying that no one was in when they attempted delivery, wait in another day while the delivery company fail again before driving to some bleak industrial estate to collect it. If I wanted to order it online I wouldn't have bothered going to an Apple store in the first place

The point she's trying to make is to let people who are interested in ordering the new products (Watch, MacBook) that they don't need to wait in line in hope's of getting one, they can simply order online and have it delivered the day it comes out. This allows Apple to sell more product, very smart.
