  • Apple Beats Music Streaming Service Being Checked by European Commission

Rumors have been going around claiming that Apple Beats Music is looking to release their revamped music service during this year’s WWDC in June. We are still two months away, but the European Union is already going around contacting music companies about their agreements with Apple. According to the Financial Times, many digital music companies and labels were contacted and questioned. The questionnaires were apparently sent out by the European Commission.

The reported noted that they are concerned about Apple convincing and influencing music groups to leave ad-supported music services like Spotify and Pandora. It was also noted that questionnaires are usually triggered by a formal complaint. Currently, the Cupertino-based company has approximately 1 billion iTunes users and if they are caught doing something wrong, the company will have to pay a large sum in fines.
