  • Philips Adds to its Smart Lighting Lineup by Announcing its New Hue Go Lamp

Philips recently announced its new Hue Go Lamp, which introduces portability and autonomy to the company’s iOS-connected Hue smart lighting range of products. The new product adds to a quickly growing lineup of Wi-Fi enabled LED lights. The Philips Go Hue is a small, translucent hemispherical lamp that touts a built-in rechargeable battery that reportedly guarantees three hours of cordless use.

The Hue Go Lamp is designed to complement smart home lighting with the lamp being capable of reproducing more than 16 million colors, each selectable via onscreen controls in Philips’ iOS app. Another 300 third-party apps are capable of controlling Hue bulbs, lamps and accessories using the Hue API as well. Thanks to the product’s portability, the Hue Go is capable of creating an instant ambiance in any room, allowing users to position it against walls, on desks or even as a table centerpiece. Users can bring Philips’ “light notifications” anywhere I their home too. Light notifications provide users with subtle visual cues when an event is triggered such as incoming email or change in weather.

Unlike the Hue Bloom Lamp, which has a similar shape, the Hue Go sports a physical control button in its rear that helps to cycle between one of seven light themes. Users can select warm or cool white light as well as “natural dynamic effects” that flow through a mix of colors. Users can choose from one of the five effects including Cozy Candle, Sunday Coffee, Meditation, Enchanted Forest and Night Adventure.

Anyone interested in purchasing the Philip Hue Go can do so in US Apple Store, Best Buy locations and Amazon somewhere between the end of May and early June. The product will be given a price tag of $99.99.
