  • Apple Watch Production Reportedly Sliced in Half Due to Production Issues

If you're excited to get your hands on the Apple Watch next month, you may be in for an unpleasant surprise.

Reports are indicating that Apple's upcoming wearable device may come with a shortage in availability due to production of the device purportedly being sliced in half for reasons of relating to difficulties in the device's production. This, in turn, means that shipments of the device will also be sliced in half and will affect the initial supply of the device in comparison to demand.

The report, first shared by Economic Daily News, notes that while Apple initially planned to produce approximately 2.5 million to 3 million of these Apple Watches each month, the plans have shifted to producing about 1.25 million to 1.5 million each month.

So why is this the case? The report details apple's new LG-branded AMOLED display as the culprit, noting that there are some challenges in producing the component that are slowing down production and creating delays.

Apple's Watch is still going to be available for pre-order online starting April 10th and will be available to purchase on April 24th, as planned. The only quandary is that if there's enough demand, those ordering may be waiting longer than they had planned to to receive the device in their hands.

Are Apple restricting supply to try and drum up demand or have internal sales forecasts been revised downwards?

Every year, there are people saying that Apple restrict production to increase demand for the iPhone. BULLS#IT. The demand is already there, the factories just can't churn them out fast enough. As for the Watch, I have no idea how big the demand is, but I'm pretty sure there has to be one already.
