  • Atari Launches a New Fitness App for the iOS Platform

Atari has released a new fitness application for the iOS mobile device platform on Thursday called Atari Fit.

While the application aims to assist you in keeping fit, the application also rewards you with something called "coins" that are earned during workouts. These coins can then be used to unlock a variety of Atari-branded games, including Pong, Super Breakout, and Centipede. Moreover, you can also earn Walgreens Balance Rewards points by participating in exercises that can be redeemed in real life.

Atari Fit has more than 100 different kinds of exercises that can be done, and the application helps you track calorie burning and tracks your distance, speed, and pace. The application also supports multi-player, so you can compete with your friends and family too; there is even an online leader board where you can compare your scores.

Atari notes that their Fit application is compatible with wearable devices, such as the FitBit and Jawbone, but there is no mention of Apple's upcoming Apple Watch. Fortunately, the application can connect with Apple's Health application, which is built into iOS 8.

If you're interested in giving Atari Fit a try, you an download it completely free at this App Store link.
