  • New TinyUmbrella Beta Released; Creator Says to Save SHSH, Are Once Again Relevant

The well-known iOS device downgrade assistance tool TinyUmbrella has been updated with a new beta release on Saturday with an entirely new look. The creator says that SHSH blobs are once again relevant to the scene of jailbreaking and that all users should save their iOS 8.1.2 SHSH blobs and not upgrade their devices to a newer iOS firmware.

@Notcom, the creator of the tool, says that TinyUmbrella can't be used to downgrade to earlier firmwares right now, but the creator seems to certainly have something up his sleeve that the jailbreak community is going to want to know about. He also notes being in the works of a new tool with ih8sn0w based on a new exploit that was discovered.

Once installed, you can open the TinyUmbrella application and plug in your iOS device to start fetching your SHSH blobs. It is recommended that you do this for each and every one of your jailbroken devices so that when SHSH blobs are once again relevant, as the creator is hinting, that you will have them cached for your own personal use.

TinyUmbrella is available for both Mac OS X and Windows and requires that you have Java installed on your machine. You can follow the download links below to start saving your SHSH blobs:

Stay tuned as we continue to keep you updated on this awesome announcement!

Not sure how to save the SHSH blobs. The only option is to Fetch - does this save as well?

Great news. Although i have a brand new device once 8.2 has a jailbreak at least it will be permanent.

Will this beta version of TU have other functions such as the "fix recovery mode" that was on the previous version of TU?

A lotta hype about nothing in my opinion. Time will tell.. But Apple would never retrace their steps and allow the 'blobs' to be central to the signing process.. Really a doubter here.. But here's to hoping!

      Im on 8.1.2~
I got all my blobs saved for 6.x but not for 7.x and would rather go back to 7.x if I could..
Funny thing is it took me a year before I upgraded to iOS 7.x.

Must you be so negative? He's been working on this for a long time if you follow twitter. I've got a hard time with spending so much time to update if it's all for not.

The "devil is in the details" my Dad always taught me.. and the Twitter stuff's been very vague.. (though admittedly - I only got caught up recently)... And you know me... and my "history is best teacher" bent. Apple realized the blobs loophole two firmwares ago.. Seems hard to imagine that hole would just open up again.. The fact that it's a "new exploit" the TU team is talking about is the only ray of hope for me.. So I'll try to remain skeptically optimistic.. [emoji23][emoji106]

Doesn't cydia automatically grab your blobs?
