  • Apple Confirms Pay Hike for Shuttle Bus Drivers

Apple is doing its part to invest more of its gigantic pile of cash back into the hard-working people who make Apple run so efficiently, including its team of shuttle bus drivers.

On the heels of a recent report that Apple will begin hiring its own security team, providing full benefits of Apple employees, the Cupertino-based tech behemoth confirmed to San Jose Mercury News that its shuttle bus drivers are getting a raise.

If you're not familiar, the drivers in question help employees get to and from work in Cupertino. And the raise, as we understand it, is no small matter. Apple is reportedly springing for a 25 percent increase in hourly pay (the drivers, however, are still employed by outside contractors).

"Over 5,000 Apple employees in the Bay Area take advantage of our commute alternatives program every day," Apple spokeswoman Kristin Huguet is quoted in today's report. "We're working with the bus companies to help make a number of changes for the more than 150 drivers of our commute shuttles, including funding a 25 percent increase in hourly wages, premium pay for coach and shuttle drivers who work split shifts and improving the driver break and rest areas."
