  • Facebook Messenger for iOS Updated With Share Extension Support

On Tuesday, Facebook updated its Facebook Messenger application for the iOS platform to version 22.0.

The update gives the user the ability to share photos and other media directly to the Facebook Messenger application using the brand-new iOS 8 share extension support, as shown above.

Now, when attempting to share something, a Facebook Messenger option will allow you to share that item to as many of your Facebook friends as you want via a Facebook Message instead of having to post it directly to Facebook. This gives the user a much more personal approach to sharing with Facebook instead of having to announce things to the world when you really only want one person to see something.

The share extension can be enabled or disabled on demand from the iOS 8 share extension interface by toggling on the Facebook Messenger toggle switch.

Existing users of the Facebook Messenger application will find this update under the Updates tab in the App Store application; on the other hand, if you have automatic updates enabled in iOS 8, then the update will be installed for you automatically. You can also download the latest version of Facebook Messenger for free from this App Store link.
