  • Apple Store Redesign May Be All About Apple Watch


    As MMi reported earlier this month, big changes may be in store for Apple's retail stores.

    With Apple's retail presence largely outfitted to accommodate products that have been in the Apple family for several years now, it is expected that changes are now imminent due to Apple's looming launch of new products in new product categories, beginning with Apple Watch.

    In the new February 23, 2015 issue of The New Yorker, a report takes an in-depth look at Apple, its leadership, and the company's future from multiple angles. One of the most persistent themes is the ongoing evolution of Apple's retail presence.

    "Ive has begun to work with Ahrendts, Apple’s senior vice-president of retail, on a redesign—as yet unannounced—of the Apple Stores," The New Yorker reveals. "These new spaces will surely become a more natural setting for vitrines filled with gold (and perhaps less welcoming, at least in some corners, to tourists and truants)."

    Chances are, of course, that the aforementioned redesign will come in various phases, as Apple Watch is just the newest of an anticipated wave of new products that could be introduced over the next two to three years -- everything from connected HDTVs to products designed for the ultimate connected car experience.
