  • Google Offering Additional 2GB of Storage to Google Drive Account

Yesterday marked Safer Internet Day and to celebrate, popular search giant Google announced an initiative to those with a Google account. If you have a Google account and have 2-minutes to spare, you can receive an extra 2GB of Google Drive storage to your account. If this is something that interests you, definitely keep reading for more details.

For those who do not know, users get 15GB of free storage from Google and that includes being able to use Gmail, Google Drive, and Google+ Photos. If you are a student and use Google apps or use it for work, the company offers 30GB of free storage for each account.

In order to receive the additional 2GB of storage for your Google Drive account, you will need to run a security check on your account by February 17th, which is next Tuesday. This will total your account storage to 17GB by the end of the month. According to Google,

It takes just a couple of minutes and, unlike other checkups, it won’t leave you feeling guilty about not flossing. Here’s what it does:

    - Ensures your account recovery information is current
If we detect suspicious activity in your account, we use your recovery info to get in touch and make sure no one but you gains access.

    - Lets you review recent sign-in activity
Reviewing this lets you validate the sign-ins are coming from you and not someone who shouldn't be using your credentials.

-Confirms the apps and devices that access some account information
This step lets you monitor this list and remove apps and devices that don't need access to your account any more.
If you are interested in an additional 2GB of storage, click here to proceed with the security check.

That was simple, but must take some time to get the extra 2 GB cause it didn't work for me.

Your account will show the additional 2GB of space from next month as stated on the Google link given in the 'Source' of the article.

Hmm... I wonder when Apple will move on from the f**ked up 5GB of free "space" and offer something reasonable like 10-15GB... disappointing Apple
