  • New Concept Shows Off What Could Be a Better Notification Center for iOS

Apple expects you to use Notification Center to keep track of your incoming notifications; but in terms of real-world use, how often do you actually use Notification Center? Chances are, you don't really open it much because your notifications are all available to you from your Lock Screen and you just unlock your device to respond to them. Apple really only has one thing going for them in Notification Center, and that one thing is that iOS 8 brought widgets to Notification Center.

A new concept shows off a new way to use Notification Center, and it looks downright sexy. The concept shows off a new organization for incoming notifications under the Notifications tab, as well as new ways to interact with the notifications without even having to leave Notification Center. This includes favoriting or retweeting Tweets, liking Instagram posts, and much more.

You can check out the concept video via Vimeo below:

The design definitely looks a little far-fetched from something Apple would ever create and feels more like something we would expect out of a jailbreak tweak, although in terms of functionality, we feel the designer is on the right track.

Would you like to see something like this in a future version of iOS?

I have my notifications customized so only one thing is pushed out at a time. Not that this isn't clever, but it'd get crowded fairly easily.

This needs to happen! I never use NC but with this kind of functionality I would.

I don't understand why so few apps have Today widgets. All of this could be done stock if the developers of Facebook, Twitter, etc. actually cared about adding useful features.

Super cool. Too bad we all know apple would never do this. That's way too much work for them to do. Not to mention that they want you to open apps for some reason.

So am I the only one that DOES use Notification Center? I use he home button to power on so I'm always past the lockscreen with Touch ID too quickly to really use anything there. One of the first things I usually do is pull down Notification Center for weather, iMessages, calendar, reminders, etc. nothing is perfect though so I'm always looking forward to improvements!
