  • Apple Seeds iOS 8.2 Beta 5 to Developers for Testing

Apple has seeded iOS 8.2 beta 5 to developers for testing Monday afternoon. iOS 8.2 includes the Apple Watch SDK for developers to take advantage of before its public launch in just a couple more months, and allows developers to prepare their applications for Apple Watch integration.

Alongside iOS 8.2 beta 5 is a new version of Xcode that goes along with the firmware for development, which developers can also grab from Apple's online developer portal.

Notably, since iOS 8.2 is now in beta 5, it's nearing a public release. It is suspected that iOS 8.2 may launch during the same week of the Apple Watch launch, but it's possible it may even come before then.

Jailbreakers will want to stay far away from iOS 8.2 until it has been jailbroken since iOS 8.1.3 has patched the TaiG jailbreak, iOS 8.2 is guaranteed to not be vulnerable to the jailbreak as well, meaning hackers will need to produce a new one for jailbreaking to continue.

Developers already running a beta version of iOS 8.2 will find this update under the Settings > General > Software Update option, or by plugging their device into their computer and launching iTunes to update the manual way.

Have there been any whispers anywhere about possible release week for the watch? Within a month? Two?

      I believe in April.

Yea Tim Cook mentioned an April launch. I'm just hoping the next jailbreak doesn't release until the watch does. If 8.2 releases before the watch then Apple will probably require an update to 8.2.x for the watch to function. So if 8.2 is jailbroken Apple will likely close the exploits before they release the watch.

      April launch is correct.
