  • Apple Launches New 'Free on iTunes' Section

About two weeks ago, we reported that Apple had dropped their ‘Single of the Week’ promotion that the company had started since 2004. However, those who actually enjoyed this ongoing promotion should be happy to hear that the Cupertino-based company has added a new ‘Free on iTunes’ section. The new section not only has music tracks but television episodes as well. 16 songs from various artists have been featured in the ‘Free on iTunes’ section when launched. Some artists include Hiss Golden Messenger and The Bright Light Social Hour. Like the previous promotion, most featured artists are future up-and-coming ones and are not necessarily known.

As for television episodes, shows like My Big Fat Fabulous Life and Ace of Cakes are featured. The shows are full-length TV shows and can be watched in standard definition or HD quality. It is unknown as to why Apple decided to cancel their previous ‘Single of the Week’ promotion, which featured music singles once a week. When it was cancelled, many users were complaining and upset with the company’s decision to drop it. Believe it or not, many users actually looked forward to these singles on a weekly basis even if the artists were not popular. Were you someone that looked forward to the free content once a week? How do you feel about the new promotion? Let us know in the comments below.
