  • New Photos of Apple's Alleged 12-inch MacBook Air Leaked

Chinese website iFanr has recently released some photos of Apple’s rumored 12-inch MacBook Air, set to unveil sometime this year. The photos are said to be the display assembly of the upcoming device. iFanr showed pictures of what they claim to be the metal shell and display of the device next to Apple’s current 9.7-inch iPad and 13-inch MacBook Air. One big difference that was spotted on the supposed upcoming laptop was the Apple logo on the device. Typically, the company’s laptops have a white Apple logo that lights up when the computer is on. However, in the photos, the new device has a black metal logo like seen on the iPad. It was noted that this could possibly be because of the thinness of the laptop.

The 12-inch MacBook Air is rumored to have Retina display with Broadwell Core M processors. It will also supposedly sport the same footprint as the current 11-inch MacBook Air with smaller bezels and a larger display. iFanr’s photo shows the laptop without grey bezels and an edge-edge display instead. This will be similar to Apple’s current Retina MacBook Pro laptops. Previous reports also noted that Apple will be discontinuing the smaller 11-inch MacBook when the new 12-inch laptop gets released. We’re not sure how accurate or reliable these pictures are, so we’d suggest viewing them with a grain of salt. What are your thoughts on the upcoming device? Let us know in the comments below.

Saw a lot of pissing and moaning on other sites regarding the demise of the white-glow-logo. meh. I get the iconic view of that, but I don’t need to be pumped up about advertising I own a Mac.
I’m more interested in what’s inside, how it works.
I’m very eager to replace my aging ’09 MacBook Pro. I like the new design, the ‘evolutionary’ aspects of it, not revolutionary. The demise of the ports, I can live with, as the new USB with, I surmise, add-ons, will be just fine for me. I’m a old Mac Pro user as well, and a Mac-Fanboi for decades. (I worked for Apple in R&D for 5 years, ’88-’92) and the new MacBook Air here will be the perfect unit for me.
I’ll be first in-line, on-line to order it.

This definitely looks like a great compact laptop with Apple's signature design, but I hope at some point we see something comparable to the Surface Pro 3. As a university student I can say that a large number of students are using the Surface Pro and for good reason, you can annotate pdf's during class, while being able to compile code at the same time. I envy the productivity but can not stand Microsoft and it's hard to branch out from the Apple eco-system, but hopefully soon we will see a true competitor in this area from Apple that actually runs Yosemite. Sorry for the rant just surprised we're hearing rumors of this before something closer to what I mentioned.
