  • Google Updates Chrome for iOS With Material Design Interface, Handoff Support, and More

Google has launched a major update for its Chrome Web browser on the iOS platform on Tuesday. Version 40.0.2214.61 (whoa, who came up with that number?) is now available in the iOS App Store with a myriad of new features, and even a redesigned user interface.

The new redesigned user interface takes after Google's Material Design user interface that has been slowly rolling out to all of Google's iOS applications, including Google Maps, Google Translate, and more. The Material Design interface takes the flatness out of the interface and makes it stand out with bolder graphics. Google notes that the interface also has "fluid motion" animations and "tactile surfaces."

Google Chrome has also been given support for Apple's Handoff feature, which was introduced with iOS 8. This allows users to continue on Google Chrome for iOS whatever they might have been doing on their default Web browser for Mac OS X, and vice-versa.

Other improvements in this update include improvements for iOS 8 and the larger retina HD displays of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, as well as performance and stability improvements and bug fixes.

Existing users of the Google Chrome Web browser for iOS will find this update under the Updates tab in the App Store application. iOS 8 users with Automatic Updates enabled will have this update installed automatically for them. If you want to install the latest version of Google Chrome for iOS manually, you can head over to this App Store link.
