  • Microsoft Updates its OneNote App for iPhone With Notification Center Widget and More

On Thursday, Microsoft released an update for its OneNote application for the iPhone, effectively making version 2.8 of the application the newest that can be downloaded from the iOS App Store as of this writing.

The new update adds an all-new Today widget for Notification Center, which Microsoft says can do a variety of different things, including allow you to take notes, access recent notes, start lists, and even snap photographs right from Notification Center without the need to even leave the application that you're already inside of.

Like all of the other iOS 8 Notification Center widgets that you might be running, you can enable this widget by tapping on the "Edit" button at the bottom of Notification Center and move the OneNote widget where you want it to be displayed in Notification Center's Today view.

Microsoft also adds that OneNote version 2.8 adds new and recently-edited notes to a new section called Recent Notes, which also appears in the Notification Center widget that was just discussed. Other improvements in this update have to do with minor bug fixes to make the application perform better and remain stable for users.

If you're already a user of Microsoft's OneNote application for the iPhone, then you will find this update under the Updates tab in the App Store application. If you're taking advantage of iOS 8's "Automatic Updates" feature, then it will have been installed automatically for you. All others interested in checking this application out can download the latest version of Microsoft OneNote for free from this App Store link.

Can anyone provide pros/cons to using OneNote as opposed to Evernote? I don't use any of the MS office suite applications.

Evernote sucks cuz of storage. Up to 60 MB am I right?
